Immigration: the biggest problem of the United States?

The United States has long served as a refuge for people who look to escape hunger, poverty, torture, and the oppression of the human spirit in their own countries throughout the world. Now, in days president Donald Trump want to decrease the percentage of illegal immigration through the solution of building a huge wall that will cost millions and thousands of dollars to the U.S economy. That petition has not been accepted for the huge amount of money that it requires. Another reason that president Trump want to build a wall is because it will prevent terrorism attacks and more people will feel safe and secure regarding terrorism.

Immigrants enforce almost half of the agriculture in the United States besides of workforce, and accomodation. Without the work of immigrants the job demand would increase but American people are not used to workforce that those jobs require.

During the presidency of Barack Obama he create several programs to give some kind of relief to illegal immigrants. For example, Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals (DACA) this allows the entrance to illegal immigrants to stay if they do not have criminal record as children. This was a great step for immigrants, but now Trump changed everything and the only thing that he thinks about is in how to get rid of all illegal immigrants.

The cost of educating illegal immigrants’ children is a part of the national budget equation, and as a result, the illegal immigrants constitute a considerable drain on local public funds and on state. The issue of educating immigrants’ children led to a court ruling that those children who reside in the United States, regardless of their immigration status, are entitled to attend public schools. As a result, there is a probability that most US native families with children obtain more in local services and in the United States, especially in education, than what they pay for in local taxes and in state.

But on the other perspective of the people , to close the doors now on everyone looking for the same opportunities as our families had would not only be highly hypocritical, it would also go against the fundamentals of what this nation was built on. When people talk about the American dream, they talk about the hope and potential for a better future. Our families had that opportunity, and now we are able to enjoy the same. Everyone deserves the same changes even if they are not from the same country.

There is positive and negatives aspects in immigration but I believe that as one of the most powerful countries should be more flexible about this topic and let those people who came to work hard live their dreams. They are only seeking a better life that we all deserve as a society.
