A couple weeks ago President Trump visited one of my home towns Calexico, California and while visiting he got asked a question by a unknown reporter asking "Do you have any response to lawsuits filed by California and other states?" President Trump responded quickly stating, "No, you know what's interesting about California: They're begging me for the wall in San Diego."
The problem with that statement is I have never heard someone complaining about the wall in San Diego, CA. The section of the wall in the State of California is one of the strongest segments of the wall. That section of the wall has been heavily militarized with triple barriers to support the wall in preventing illegal immigration and smuggling of contraband. It also has Border Patrol and Customs agents constantly surveilling the area in their SUVS and Helicopters to find suspects indulging themselves in illegal activities.
But that section of the wall has been in place in San Diego since 1994 when President Clinton initiated operation Gate Keeper to have more surveillance on the wall. Then in 1996 congress ordered that section of the wall to be triple barricaded to deter the massive influx of illegal immigrants entering through the San Diego section of the border. Then in 2006 congress order to have 700 miles of the border to be double barricaded and San Diego received new fencing with that federal order as well.
The need for a "new wall" in San Diego is relatively unneeded and fake news. According to the Border Patrol the wall that they have already serves as a great deterrent toward illegal Immigration and smuggling with apprehensions going down to a little over 27 thousand a year compared to the peak of the use of the San Diego border used to immigrate where 628 thousand immigrants were captured that year.
See there is no need for a new and improved wall for the border at San Diego it is a waste of money and great source of propaganda for him to use to gain support of the wall he wants to build to dearly. San Diego section of the border is doing a great job of apprehending and deporting people illegally migrating to our country. Not only that the decrease of numbers of illegal immigrants trying to come to the United States shows that there really is no need to for use to build a new wall for the Section of the border in San Diego.
We should focus those valuable resources and money on sections of the border that are destroyed. There are hundreds of pictures on line where the wall isn't even a wall. They are street barricades, the types you would see on the freeways separating the different directions of flowing traffic. They are several feet apart and have a steel chain links holding them together to show it is an international border. Why doesn't Trump place his attention on those sections of the wall? It's obvious we have a huge problem there but he seems to ignore the issues. He seems more focused on leaving a legacy of controversy on a unneeded wall instead actually securing our international border crisis.
